Happy Holiday Season from The Ancient Bakers

Happy Holiday Season from The Ancient Bakers

Dear Ancient Baking Fans,

It has been such a long time since I updated you our loyal supporters. Yet, there have been many changes and there is much good news to report.  We had a fantastic summer and fall farmer's market season thanks to the response from the edibleBoston, Boston Globe, and Banner Biz articles!  So many of you had read these articles, enjoyed our story, and came out to purchase our unique products, Thank You!  We were so glad to meet many new friends at our markets in Wellesley, Roxbury, Brigham Circle and South Yarmouth (Cape Cod).  We were delighted to be invited to many more, yet we were unable to attend them all. Next year we will prepare to grow our staff, so that we can participate in additional markets that invited us this year, Charlestown, Needham, and a few others.

We made so many new friends at these markets, special thanks to the market managers, Colleen, Barry, and Maura our new farm friends, Joe, Chuck and his great children! We introduced several new product at the markets as well that included; our sprouted coffee cake muffins w summer berries, sprouted pumpkin muffins w pumpkin spice (fall), along with our pumpkin cider donuts (pictured) to rave reviews!  Thanks everyone for embracing these new product additions to the ancient baking portfolio!!

Beyond farmer's markets, I have been working very hard to pursue a federal certification that would allow ancient bakery products to be sold via government contracting.  The process was very rigorous and took nearly one year to complete.  I had nearly given up and then on September 4, 2014, Vision's Sown - The Ancient Bakers was granted SBA 8a certification! The SBA 8a program offers Participant companies like The Ancient Bakers, 9-years of federal business development support.  This is a very exciting time for us and o the work isif you don't see us just know that the work is well underway to make the changes necessary for this type of growth.  Stay tuned for exciting updates at the beginning of 2016.

We have so much to be thankful for...

Wishing you all continued wellness this holiday season,

Warmly,

Tonya, Head Ancient Baker
